Winds are blowing, traveling boundlessly across the world: from rainforests to glaciers, desert to pine forests, across rivers and oceans, savannah and tundra. Around the world we all share the same water and breathe the same air. When we raise our eyes to the sky we all see the same sun, the same moon and the same stars.
With the boundless wind mineral particles travel from the southern Sahara 5000 km across the Atlantic to fall over the Amazon and bring vital nutrients to the rainforest soil. With the Gulf Stream solar energy travels through the ocean, from the Gulf of Mexico, past the Atlantic northwards to spread warmth in Europe. Over seas and continents swallows are flying over 10 000 km to spend the summer and spread the joy of spring to the northern hemisphere. When winter is approaching they travel, yet again their long way, to spread their joy to the other side of the earth.
Around the world, we share the same joys and the same sorrows. At the same time we share the same global challenges and a responsibility to take care of our earth. Global warming, polluted seas and depleted soils is a problem that affects us all. By taking both large and small steps we can all contribute to a change.
With this year’s theme, we want to focus on what unites and brings us all together around the world. We live in symbiosis with nature and with each other. We all share the same water and breathe the same air. We see the same sun, the same moon and the same stars. We are all part of the planet Earth.
