Nadin AL Khalidi has roots in both Kairo and Baghdad. She came to Sweden several years ago and then started the band Tarabband in 2008. Her lyrics takes us with her on her life journey from her home country and life in exile and rebirth. She asks questions about the borders that are drawn up between countries and people. Tarabbands repertoire finds their core in the Arabic music. The songs are created both from the traditional Arabic songs and the band’s own unique compositions. Here is Sufi with pop mixed and folk music so that tarab arise. Tarab is the Arabic notion for the bond of ecstasy that may arise between musicians and audience. Tarabband consist of established musicians from Swedens folk- and world music scenes.
